What is Mother’s Day? Mother’s Day is a day to honor motherhood. Mothers do so much for their families. A lot of people celebrate this holiday. There are so many ways to celebrate Mother’s Day.  The first ever Mothers Day was May 10th, 1908. Anna Jarvis was the one who created Mother’s Day. She had held a service at her late mother’s church. Soon each state followed along and eventually it became a holiday. In 1914, Woodrow Wilson had then made it a national holiday.

PictureMother’s Day is to honor all mothers. Mothers do so much for their family. They cook, clean, make sure children have everything they need, do laundry, etc. Mothers are the main reason why more children are brought into this world. Kids should appreciate what their mothers do for them more often instead of just on a holiday. When interviewing Jasmine Sadler, a student from ADT, she said, “We will go out maybe shopping somewhere but we go out to eat and it’s my mother’s choice and then we get dairy queen because it’s my mother’s favorite.”

Celebrating Mother’s Day can come with many ideas. Most people make gifts, buy or pick flowers, take their mothers out to eat or shopping, make dinner, etc. Others will just spend the day with their mothers watching tv or even play games. When interviewing Ariona Corbett, a student from culinary, she said, “I’ve never been able to spend it with my mom because she’s been in and out of jail and rehab all of my life but I did it for my aunt and I would bake things or I would do hand written cards and like coupon books. Never had the money to do anything and it means more when it comes from the heart.”

Mother’s Day is a special occasion dedicated to honoring and appreciating the countless contributions and sacrifices mothers make for their families. Mother’s Day has grown to be celebrated in various meaningful ways. While Mother’s Day is an important celebration, it’s crucial to recognize and appreciate the efforts of mothers every day, not just once a year.
