In Auto Tech, there’s a new teacher by the name of Mr. Steffey. He joined the Lenape staff recently. He was asked ten questions as an interesting “get to know you”.

First, he was asked some classic questions like What did you want to be when you grew up? and What would you bring with you to a desert island? Steffey’s answers were quite different than the usual answers. He wanted to be “a grandpa when [he] was 3” and “[He’d] bring a long-range radio, knife, and lighter”. His response to the desert question seems smart in terms of preparation.

The next couple questions were more about his tastes. He was asked his favorite genre of music and a historical figure he’d like to meet. His answers were “I listen to rock” and “I’d meet James Longstreet” respectively. Now, he didn’t specify specific songs in the rock genre so people can only speculate, but it must be some good music. Secondly, James Longstreet, after some research, was a lieutenant general for the Confederacy in the Civil War and Robert E. Lee’s right-hand man.

Mr. Steffey was also asked one thing he was bad at. He stated “I’m really bad at lying.” The best compliment Mr. Steffey was ever told was “I’m like a cat, I always land on my feet.” He was also asked the furthest place he has been from home. His answer was, “I went to Cancun, Mexico.”

The final questions Steffey was asked are What most surprised you about your career? and Are you an early bird or a night owl? He said that the amount of information someone has to know to work in auto tech surprised him the most. That is definitely true, it seems like to be a teacher, people must know far more information than they’d think at first. “Once I’m awake, I tend to stay awake” is what he had to say about the second question.

Mr. Steffey is surely to be a wonderful teacher as the years go on.
