National Wreaths Across America by Jordon Blystone

1 min read

On December 18th, National Wreaths Across America Day is celebrated, this brings families of veterans together to commemorate those who lost their lives fighting for The United States’ freedom. This celebration of those who fought for citizens of this country is held in thousands of locations across America and even some over-seas. All people including those who are not family to any veterans can still go to pay respects to the soldiers who died fighting or passed after their service, these are usually held in cemeteries where U.S. veterans were buried. This day celebrates all branches of military veterans from the Revolutionary War to modern foreign conflicts. This cause has its own website (WreathsAcrossAmerica.org), there they explain why this cause is important to all veterans and families of veterans. There they stated, “We only honor these veterans in the fall and spring, but they were sacrificing their time and lives everyday to defend and conquer.” Often at homes of the veterans there are empty seats where their families are constantly reminded that there is someone fighting for them, if and when they don’t come home, the families are impacted immensely. This is why supporting families of veterans is important, they all feel sorrow and pain for losing a beloved person in their family and heart. They are accepting volunteers to help spread this cause across all states of America and some locations over-seas.
