At the SkillsUSA PA Western Region Fall Leadership Conference Banquet, Lenape Tech’s own Brady Hurley received the second place award in the newly-named Jerry Longwell Memorial Gold Star Competition. This competition is held for students who excel in public speaking and have knowledge of SkillsUSA.
On hand to present the award was Jerry’s wife Patricia and his son Eric. This is the first year that the competition has taken on the memorial namesake for Jerry Longwell who served SkillsUSA for over 60 years as a vocational student organization member, advisor and volunteer. In his time as an advisor, Jerry mentored 21 Pennsylvania state officers, 75 American degrees, 53 state gold medalists, four national gold medalists and six national silver medalists.
Jerry Longwell’s legacy will continue on with SkillsUSA for many years to come!
