Pi day is an annual celebration of the mathematical number Pi. Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th. It is celebrated on this day because March 14th‘s date is 3-14 which is also the first three figures of the number Pi. Pi’s number is an irrational number meaning that it is never ending, and it is never repeating. Pi is the most studied number in mathematics and Pi is known to be about 62.8 trillion digits. Pi is also a transcendental number which means that it cannot be the solution to an equation involving only finite sums, products, powers, and integers. On March 12th, 2009, the U.S. House Of Representatives recognized March 14th as National Pi Day. People celebrate Pi Day by eating pies and learning some of the numbers. Maddie Stein said, “We talk about Pi Day in math class and learn about the number.” Delaney Watkins also said, “In elementary school we would eat pies to celebrate.” This Pi Day learn more about the number and enjoy some pies.
