Horror movies

There is nothing like snuggling up with a warm blanket to watch a scary movie in the fall, but what movie should you choose? There are many sub genres of horror movies such as slasher and psychological horrors. Are you in the mood to watch something spooky? Here are a few movies to help readers get in the Halloween spirit. 

One of the most popular types of horror movies are slasher films. Slasher films tend to not have as many monsters, its more focused on people as the villains. If you are looking for a classic slasher, there are a few to come to mind. Friday the 13th, Halloween, American Psycho, The Exorcist, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, and many more. These are good movies to watch if you want to revisit an old classic. They are not for everyone though. Some may love the classics, other may find them boring, it’s all personal preference. There are more modern slashers such as the Terrifier franchise, Hush, Saw, The Ring, Thanksgiving, and Orphan. 

  If movie watchers are looking for movies that is a psychological adventure, there are quite a few. M. Night Shyamalan is a famous director. He has directed many horror movies and he’s known for his plot twists. Some of his movies include, Old, The Village, Signs, Lady in the water, The Sixth sense, Knock at the Cabin, and most recently, Trap. Though his are some of the most famous, there are hundreds or thousands of other great psychological horror movies such as, Triangle, Fractured, The visit, Gerald’s Games, and Smile

Maybe you just want a movie with a good old fashion monsters. You may want to try something like IT, Annabelle, The conjuring, the Poltergeist, Insidious, The Nun, Jeepers Creepers, or The Babadook. 

 When asked what her favorite horror movie is, and why? Jordan Mills a student in Law Enforcement said, “Freddy and Jason because of the gore and I like to see two iconic characters go at it with each other.” 

When asked if he thought horror movies were worth the hype and why, a Law Enforcement student, Christopher Detman said, “Honestly yeah. I mean they have a lot of reasoning about them.” 

There is so much variety in the horror movie genre, there is always something new to try. It can be hard to find a good movie, but once you do, its worth it.
