Easter

Easter is a Christian celebration that is meant to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion. The resurrection of Jesus, as portrayed in the New Testament of the Bible, serves as the foundation for Christian religions. As a result, Easter is an important event in the Christian calendar.

The New Testament claims that Jesus was imprisoned by the Roman government primarily because he declared himself to be the “Son of God.” Historians debate this motive, with some suggesting that the Romans saw him as a danger to the empire.

In some homes, a figure known as the Easter Bunny visits and gives children chocolate eggs and candies on Easter Sunday morning. Typically, these candies are presented in an Easter basket. While some historians believe the Easter Bunny tradition came to America with German immigrants in the 1700s, its exact origins are unknown.

During an interview with Damian Wadding, a Lenape Tech student from ADT, said that, “I usually link easter with the resurrection of Jesus. The holiday is very important in my family.” Another student from CIT, Dante Bolte, said, “My family usually just has a big get together and spends the day together.” Whether a person spends the holiday religiously or not, there’s no wrong way to celebrate Easter.
