Have you ever wondered how different places celebrate Halloween? Everybody probably already knows how Halloween is celebrated in the United States. People dress up in costumes and go from house to house getting candy from people. Some places like Japan celebrate Halloween very similar to the U.S, they trick or treat and dress up in costumes and carve pumpkins. They also have parties and watch horror movies on Halloween. In Germany Halloween is not a big holiday but they still dress up and go trick or treating. They also have a Halloween buffet with snacks, finger food, cupcakes, and pizza. They also have parties where they dress up in costumes. Australia celebrates Halloween just like the U.S. where kids go trick or treating and they have costume parties. The main difference between them is that Halloween is not a public holiday because they believe there is no religious reason to observe the holiday. England celebrates Halloween but they celebrate it November 4th<\/sup> and not October 31st<\/sup> like here. They dress up in costumes to avoid being harmed by spirits. It was also known to be called mischief night. Some traditions they have are bobbing for apples, telling ghost stories, and carving lanterns from vegetables. In Peru people will dress up all month before Halloween in purple as a tradition because orange and purple are popularly known as Halloween colors. It also is not uncommon to hear children chanting at peoples doorsteps, \u201cHalloween, Halloween, Halloween.\u201d When interviewed on what tradition their families do on Halloween Marley Fiscus<\/strong> said, \u201c My family carves funny and scary pumpkins for Halloween every year.\u201d And Leia Wolfe<\/strong> said, \u201c We all go to my grandmas and eat dinner.\u201d These are just some of the different ways other countries celebrate Halloween.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By: Emily Clawson Have you ever wondered how different places celebrate Halloween?
