Theodor Seuss Geisel, or Dr. Seuss as many people know him, was a beloved and famous children\u2019s book author. He wrote and illustrated 86 books during his time as a writer, most of which are very well-known and high-ranked. When asked about her opinion of Dr. Seuss, Addison Geracia <\/strong>stated, \u201cDr. Seuss is a great childhood author who shows kids it\u2019s good to have an imagination.\u201d His books mainly appeal to children because of the funny illustrations, characters, and nonsense language. They have been at the top of many bestseller lists and have sold over 222 million copies. Most of his books were written under the pseudonym Dr. Seuss, but he has also written dozens under the name Theo. LeSieg and one under Rosetta Stone. He attended Dartmouth College and earned his bachelor\u2019s degree in 1925. He then studied literature at Lincoln College, Oxford, but did not earn a degree. After some work in advertising and magazines, he earned his master\u2019s degree in English literature at Oxford University. His birthday was March 2nd<\/sup>, 1904 and he died on September 24th<\/sup>, 1991 at 87 years old. In his memory, March 2nd<\/sup> has become National Read Across America Day. This is an initiative made by the National Education Association to get children to read more. This year would mark his 117th<\/sup> birthday and the 25th<\/sup> anniversary of Read Across America Day.
