Many communities around Pennsylvania host St. Patrick Day parades, but none of them come close to the size of the parade in Scranton. In fact, it is the second-largest St. Patrick’s Day parade in the country. The parade is held in Scranton PA, every year on the Saturday of the weekend before St. Patrick\u2019s Day. Each year, thousands of people line the streets of downtown Scranton on Parade Day to take part in one of the city’s greatest traditions. The city has hosted a St. Patrick\u2019s Day Parade since early in its history, The parade is sponsored and organized by the St. Patrick\u2019s Day Parade Association of Lackawanna County. The parade typically involves about 12,000 participants, including bagpipers, Irish step dancers, high school bands, local organizations and other Irish groups. Scranton is about 4 hours away so if you\u2019re interested look it up for more detail so it\u2019s worth the drive. The parade route is marked in green and begins on Wyoming Avenue in front of St. Peter\u2019s Cathedral, proceeds through the streets of downtown Scranton, past the Lackawanna County Courthouse on North Washington Avenue, and ends after passing Lackawanna College. The streets will be packed with people of all ages, but since COVID-19 is still a risk there will be safety protocols in place. If any participants or spectators are feeling unwell, they are asked to stay home. The city is also encouraging social distancing, and masks for children under the age of two years old. Pandemic or not, the lineup is sure to be a show-stopping one with many local staples like Lynette\u2019s Twirling, Penn State Scranton Cheerleaders, Wyoming Area Warrior Marching Band, and Ceol Neamh Pipe Band. Bryant Pampeno <\/strong>and Mayson Kelly <\/strong>never heard if the Scranton St. Patrick\u2019s Parade. They explained that it seemed exciting but it\u2019s a long drive. In case The Scranton St. Patrick\u2019s Parade may be too far, there is another parade in Philadelphia but that\u2019s kind of far as well. The Saint Patrick’s Parade in Middle City East, Pa and is two hours closer but it\u2019s still a far drive, unfortunately due to covid-19 a lot of the Saint Patrick\u2019s events are cancelled.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
