{"id":972,"date":"2022-04-18T14:49:00","date_gmt":"2022-04-18T14:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lenapetechtimes.com\/?p=972"},"modified":"2022-04-19T14:44:25","modified_gmt":"2022-04-19T14:44:25","slug":"what-is-earth-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lenapetechtimes.com\/?p=972","title":{"rendered":"What is Earth Day?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\u00a0By: Shawn Ward\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earth Day&nbsp;is&nbsp;an international event celebrated around the world&nbsp;by people who&nbsp;pledge&nbsp;their&nbsp;support for environmental protection.&nbsp;People&nbsp;around the world&nbsp;show their support&nbsp;on&nbsp;Earth Day&nbsp;by&nbsp;repurposing&nbsp;old items,&nbsp;making&nbsp;their own cleaners,&nbsp;lowering&nbsp;the Temperature in their house,&nbsp;saying no to&nbsp;plastic,&nbsp;and&nbsp;using&nbsp;manual&nbsp;fans&nbsp;instead of air conditioners.&nbsp;Alexis Bandi&nbsp;picks&nbsp;things up&nbsp;off&nbsp;the side of the road&nbsp;to show her support for Earth Day.&nbsp;Earth Day is the one day out of the year where people do something&nbsp;to protect and improve the&nbsp;earth&#8217;s&nbsp;environment. Now there are people out&nbsp;there&nbsp;that do this kind&nbsp;of thing every&nbsp;day,&nbsp;but it is only highlighted through Earth Day.&nbsp;Because there was no EPA, no Clean Air Act, no Clean Water Act. In spring 1970,&nbsp;Senator Gaylord Nelson created Earth Day&nbsp;to force this issue onto the national agenda.
