Earth Day is an annual celebration that honors the achievements of the environmental movement and raises awareness of the need to protect Earths natural resources for future generations. Earth Day started on April 20, 1970, to protect the earth for years to come. By celebrating this day, people raise awareness about these issues and encourage people to reduce their impact on the environment.

Earth Day is used to bring up ways people can keep the planet’s amazing features, for many years to come. It is said that 1 billion people worldwide in over 193 countries celebrate this day. This day is also the largest act towards protecting our planet’s natural wonders. The main act of the people to celebrate Earth Day is to protect the planet from pollution and deforestation.

On this day people pick up litter, plant things like trees, and flowers. Also, it is to focus on making the world a better place to live. Many try to recycle, reuse, and reduce the waste that pollutes our planet. On earth day, a lot of people like to go for a walk, or bike to enjoy the beauty of the world, and think about how they could help it stay this way for others to see. Some celebrate this day by turning off any non-essential lights for an hour to be resourceful.

When interviewed Mitchell Burke said, “I have never really thought about earth day in the sense of saving the earth, but I like the thought of keeping the earth cleaner by cleaning up trash.” Another person interviewed, Lincoln Claypoole, mentioned “I have lived on a farm most of my life and would like to keep it healthy by helping the Earth, because the Earth is our home, and we need to take care of it.” Finally, the celebration of earth day has hit an extreme amount of 1 billion people celebrating the saving of Earth, and its amazing qualities it brings us in life.
