National Peanut Butter Lover’s Day

Peanut butter is loved by many people. So much in fact, that they made a national holiday just for peanut butter lovers. March 1st is National peanut butter lovers day. On this day people nationwide can celebrate their love for peanut butter. But how did this become a national day?

March 1st became National Peanut Butter lover’s day in 1990 when it became popular in the U.S. There are many things to eat peanut butter with. Ever try a peanut butter and banana sandwich? One day a monkey visited a lab at Kellogg’s and dipped is banana in a jar of peanut butter. Ever since then, peanut butter banana sandwiches became very popular. Soon peanut butter made its way around the world and became even more popular. Peanut butter soon helped the creations of many dishes around the world, such as Thai peanut butter shrimp.

There are also many interesting facts about peanut butter as well. Americans have been known to spend almost $800 million a year just on peanut butter. Another interesting fact about peanut butter is that it takes about 540 peanuts to make a 12-ounce jar of peanut butter. One of the oldest operating manufacturer and seller of peanut butter is still selling it since 1898.

There are many ways to celebrate this national holiday. There are many yummy recipes with peanut butter out there. Why not give them a try? There are also many things to dip in peanut butter such as apples, or pretzels. Celebrate national peanut butter lovers day however one wants to. Have a safe and happy March.
