Popular Fall Sports

Among all sports in the United States, Football is very high in popularity. The sport has around 400 Million viewers yearly and has one of the fastest selling ticket groups out of all fall sports. The leading team in 2022 for ticket sales was led by the 49ers with a total of 136 million dollars’ worth of ticket revenue. In total there are thirty-two teams in the National Football League (NFL) that compete in 16 games and the remaining twelve will move onto a championship. In Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, The Steelers are the local team. The event of Ben Roethlisberger leaving the team effected many fans in a negative way. After being Interviewed, Connor Gould said, “They are decent, I personally believe they were a bit better when Ben was playing “. 

   Soccer is the second most popular fall sport with 11.7 Million viewers within the United States. Currently there are twenty-six teams in the United States. Thirty-two teams from around the world that are part of the Major League Soccer (MLS) group will play in the world cup. In total these teams will play thirty-four games for the world cup, seventeen of each home and away games will be played. The winner of the world cup in 2022 was Argentina who went against France and won. The teams ended up in a tie at the end of the game, but due to the penalties throughout the match, France had to lose points and Argentina took the victory. 

Basketball is the third most popular fall sport to play. It is a game of two teams of five who are trying to shoot on the opposite teams’ hoop. Each game will have 4 quarters with 12 minutes each. In total A game will take 48 minutes without counting overtime. The National Basketball association has 30 teams who play a total of 82 games played within a season. Some seasons are cut short due to penalties and losses throughout its length. In total, there are 1,230 games played including playoff’s in one season. The average National Basketball Association season runs from October to April.  

Now that Summer has passed, the Fall season can begin its’ sport events with a fresh start to the season.
