Thanksgiving Traditions

What are thanksgiving traditions? Thanksgiving traditions are special things one family does, that have been passed down by family members. Not everyone holds traditions, but most do.
Thanksgiving traditions have been around for years. Families have passed down their traditions for their children and grandchildren to hopefully pass down as well. For example, in some families they have a tradition where the father is the one who cuts the turkey for the family and their guest.
People who don’t have any special tradition for Thanksgiving often stick to the original tradition. What is the original thanksgiving tradition? The original thanksgiving tradition is where the family eats together. The meal mostly is turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, yams, and other delicious foods.
That’s not all of it. Other traditions are watching the Macy’s day parade, celebrating friendsgiving, or writing things down on a leaf that they are thankful for. There are many more traditions people do and a lot of them people have never heard of. When interviewing Jasmine Sadler, a student from ADT, about what traditions her family does she said, “Well me and my family wake up early every year because my dad starts making dinner and we watch the Macy’s parade and later a dog show.” When interviewing Kadence McGinnis, a student from Culinary Arts, about what traditions her family does on thanksgiving she said, “Family dinner including immediate family, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, and sometimes we watch the Macy’s parade.”
People have done Thanksgiving traditions for years. Some people do stuff differently than others. We hope that people keep their family traditions going that have already been passed down from generation to generation.
