2024 Full Moons

There are 12 full moons a year and each one of them has a name. This year we will have a seasonal blue moon, 2 lunar eclipses and 4 super moons.
The names for the moons come from ancient cultures. They named them so they could track the months and seasons. Some tribes had different names for the moons, but were mostly like what we see today.
The lunar cycle lasts 29.5 days (about 4 weeks) on average which means we normally have 12 full moons a year, but once every 2-3 years we have a 13th moon. This moon is called the blue moon because it does not have a name like the others.
When asking Aiden Faiella, a student in Allied Health/Sports Med, he said that he was unaware the full moons had multiple names and after finding out he was extremely interested in knowing more. When Megan Pooley a student in cosmetology, she said that she finds the full moons interesting and wants to look more into them.
The full moon is the most striking of its phases. It only makes it more interesting with the names they are given. The first full moon of the year will happen on january 13th it will be called the Wolf moon it will be hard to miss.
