People tend to worry about the unknown or exaggerate their worries about reality. Worries can control our lives if people do not understand what they worry about and why. People need to be aware of what worries are good and which one’s cause calamity amongst ourselves.

Worries can form from external pressure. For example, if a peer wants to do something that someone else does not want to do but proceeds to bug the other person about it the person who did not want to do it may end up giving into the pressure. Another form of worry that can be externally applied is bills. A deadline could be coming for bills and people are rushing to find if they can pay for them and their necessities. When Ehtan Eyler from welding was asked about what is his top five worries, he said “Getting a good job from co-op, not being broke, keeping good grades, getting the job I wanted, and not being alone”. People worry about what they will do for a job and about what they may do in their lifetime. External worries can vary depending on the situations people are in. It also can come from the social group that a person decides to hang out with.

Internal worries come from how people view what they did or how they view themselves. An example of an internal worry would be a person constantly thinking if others like them or not, pondering on if they fit in or what if they are disliked. Another example is a person’s appearance. A lot of people wonder in the eyes of others how they look from their perspective. People also worry about if they have perfected a trade or trait about themselves. People exaggerate the worry of failing something whether that be a test or failing in a particular role.  When asked what his biggest worry was if something went wrong Ethan Kowalczyk from welding said “My biggest worry is my family members dying. I care a lot about my family”.

Worries are common things, but that doesn’t mean we should focus on worries all the time. People should take the time to analyze what they are worrying about and why. Ask does this affect what is trying to be accomplished or is this just a worry that’s extending too far? There are ways to help calm down or reduce the impact of worries such as talking to a trusted friend, adult, a doctor, or a therapist. Another way to deter worries is to find a hobby that gives a sense of calm.

Worrying can cause a disruption in any given time or way.  However, there are ways to either prevent or reduce the impact that they cause. There will almost be worries in life that are not preventable by taking the most extreme caution so everything goes well. Worrying can be helpful, but it shouldn’t control how people live.
